Gothenburg, Sweden / Munich, Germany / Stuttgart, Germany – Today, the Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, and the TRATON GROUP completed the final step in forming the previously announced joint venture for charging infrastructure in Europe. The new joint venture, with Anja van Niersen as appointed CEO, is expected to have a significant role in supporting the European Union’s Green Deal for carbon-neutral freight transportation by 2050.

Simon Matti awarded with Håkan Frisinger’s Award for Excellence in Transportation
The 2022 scholarship from Håkan Frisinger's Foundation for Transport Research is awarded to Simon Matti, Professor at Luleå University of Technology. The Foundation has also decided to grant SEK 500 000 SEK for the VREF Visiting Researcher Programme 2022 to Chalmers University of Technology.

In the latest step on its path toward carbon neutrality, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) becomes the first manufacturer to deliver a construction machine built using fossil-free steel to a customer. This demonstrates the fast-tracking of innovation to real-world solutions as companies across the value chain come together to drive change.
As the world’s first truck manufacturer to do so, Volvo is now introducing fossil-free steel in its trucks. The steel is produced by the Swedish steel company SSAB and the heavy-duty electric Volvo trucks will be the first to include it.
Volvo Group will hold its Capital Markets Day on June 22, 2022. At the event, executive management will outline the key building blocks in the Volvo Group’s transformation towards 2030.
