Led by Franky Marchand (Vice President & General Manager), the plant is the exclusive producer of Volvo trucks in North America and operates in two million square feet of manufacturing space under roof.

Volvo Trucks’ New River Valley Plant is located on 566 acres bordering Interstate 81 in Dublin, VA.

NRV plant is certified to ISO-9001 Quality standards, ISO-14001 Environmental standards and ISO 50001 Energy standards, plus Superior Energy Performance Platinum-Level by the U.S. Department of Energy.

2,975 employees produce and paint cabs, related fairings and accessories for the new Volvo VNL and VNR Series highway tractors and Volvo VHD™ trucks. 

Over 130 robots are used in the cab and paint facilities.

2019:     Announced $400M expansion

2018:     Won Volvo Group Trucks Operations’ prestigious Landfill Free Environmental Award

2017:     Won Volvo Group Trucks Operation’s prestigious Safety Award 

2014:     Began purchasing electricity from 13 local landfills 

2012:     Plant became the first USA based facility to receive dual certifications to the ISO-50001 energy-management system, and achieved the highest level of certification (platinum) to the new Superior Energy Performance standard administered by the U.S. Department of Energy. 

The first U.S. built Volvo branded truck, a Volvo F7, was assembled at NRV in September 1982, and that truck resides in our plant today!
