Head of Finance

The Head of Finance is a key member of the Dealer Management Team (DMT), responsible for the overall financial management of the dealership, business partner and the strategic development support to the President. This is a hands-on role and partner to the organization to help define, and monitor VCES’ progress to its’ business goals and objectives. He/She will manage and oversee the organization’s FP&A, and Credit and Risk Management. The position will initially have 3 direct reports.

Primary Duties and Key accountabilities (but not limited to):
  • Demonstrate safe work and environmentally sound behaviors at all times in support of VCES California’s Health and Safety Policy, Programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and continuously improve financial and operations processes and controls over inventory, purchasing, billing/invoicing, aged receivables, cash flow and payroll.
  • Develop, provide, and continuously improve on the budgeting, reporting, and forecasting processes.
  • Develop, implement and monitor internal control procedures surrounding general accounting, inventory, sales and accounts payable.
  • Responsible for preparing financial reports for the DMT and the dealership board.
  • Responsible for accuracy of general ledger and financial reports.
  • Manage and oversee the month-end close process.
  • Responsible for the annual business plan and process.
  • Responsible for co-ordination of VCES’s California Monthly Sales Forecast.
  • Responsible for rental and new inventory planning and provide recommendation to the DMT on optimal inventory levels based on various inputs including market forecast, customer demand and fleet utilization.
  • Responsible for the credit and risk management process within VCES.
  • Direct supervision of accounting team, and credit and risk management team.
Required Qualifications
  • BS Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years’ experience in finance leadership (Controller etc.)
  • 5+ years’ experience managing direct reports
  • 3+ years’ experience in credit and risk management.
  • Safety conscious and customer centric with effective relationship building through all levels.
  • Exceptional communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with effective decision making.
  • Proven analytical aptitude with attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to effectively adapt and prioritize in a fast paced and deadline driven environment.
  • Improvement mind set, self-motivated, independent and team a team player with strong initiative.
  • Computer and systems literate with proficiency with Excel and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, CPA, CMA or CA.
  • Dealer Management System (DMS) implementation.
  • Heavy equipment industry & market experience
