This is how you will impact the future for Volvo Penta! Field Testing is the last step in the verification and validation chain of our future products. This is the first time the newly developed products are put in real life operation together with selected customers. As a marine field test engineer, you will lead the preparation of upcoming field tests and together with the projects, shipyards and customers, make sure the installation of our testing equipment will be carried out and started up. You will follow up ongoing field tests including planning maintenance and updates, perform trainings and report and solve problems. By this we will make sure we get the best possible verification and validation out in the field and to get the highest possible quality on our products.
This is You As you will be Penta’s face towards the field test customers, we believe that you have an outgoing personality. As a person you are also structured and well organized. You enjoy working in teams and have the ability to work with several parallel tasks and functions, such as projects, customers, OEM's, workshops etc. However, the most important quality for a marine field test engineer is to have good communication skills, an interest in the marine sector and the ability to keep up a high energy level and work together with the team. You will work with projects where it is important to understand the requirements but also important to present the end customers’ point of view towards the project. Volvo Penta operates on a seemingly flat organizational structure where own initiative is important and highly requested.
Further on, we see that you have experience of diesel engine development or engine development testing or experience of field testing activities. You probably also have a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent education. You will be working in a global environment but you will also work with a lot of Swedish customers, therefor you should be fluent in both English and Swedish. In this position you will also have the great opportunity to travel for work! So, a valid driver’s license will be needed.
Lastly, experience in the Marine business, commercial boat handling experience or similar is a strong qualifier.
This is us Field Test and Data Management within Product & Solutions Development is responsible for performing field tests, make sure we gather all necessary information and visualize and analyze the data. The department currently consists of about 18 Engineers working in different projects. The marine field test team will consist of 5 driven colleagues. We are a team that works in close cooperation and always eager to support each other. Team spirit is very important for us and that gives energy to perform and deliver, but also to have fun at work.
