Finance Controller, VFS Region Europe, Central East & East

INTRODUCTION

As Finance Controller you have the overall responsibility to develop, guide, manage and oversee
the accounting function for seventeen (17) countries. You will work directly for VP Finance of the region and cooperation with the Regional Management Team.
You lead the development of an effective financial reporting framework, contribute in setting up regional financial strategy and work closely on internal control development.

VFS Region Europe CE&E has over 200 employees in approximately 17 countries and covers a spectrum of different challenges and dimensions. presence in several markets including Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine; and cross border markets in Belarus, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
  • Manage monthly financial reporting process in the CE&E Region, including reviewing and analyzing reported figures, control reports and investigating and resolving issues.
  • Ensure timeliness and quality of reporting by markets finance teams:
  • Developing, analyzing and investigating trends
  • Investigating significant variances from prior period actual results
  • Analyzing the data for accuracy and adherence to IFRS, VFS Finance policies and the AB Volvo Financial Policies and Procedures.
  • Implementing corrective activities as needed.
  • Prepare and analyze financial and non-financial reports for management and the parent company on both an ad hoc and regularly scheduled basis.
  • Support internal control activities with the purpose of ensuring that the organization has a good system of internal control over accounting and financial reporting, including:
  • Assisting in conducting accounting and financial reporting reviews at select VFS locations.
  • Performing internal control assessment, testing and remediation activities in accordance with Volvo Internal Control Standards (VICS).
  • Ensuring proper supporting documentation for differences in statutory and VGCS reporting
  • Assess and develop an internal control framework
  • Coordinate and take part when necessary in the external audit
  • In cooperation with the Tax Manager ensure proper tax accounting and tax reporting
  • Assist in the development and implementation of tools and reporting systems
  • Assist and provide support for the new market entries in related areas of expertise
  • Assist in the review, development, and updating of VFS financial directives, guidelines, procedures, and control measures to ensure that all transactions are properly controlled, tracked and reported in accordance with Volvo and VFS Financial Policies and Procedures and International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Provide training and guidance in accounting and financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, the FPP, and VFS global policies as needed
  • Promote and enhance sharing of best practices in financial reporting between VFS markets to ensure continual improvement.
  • Perform ad hoc activities requested by regional or functional management team

EDUCATION & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • MA/BA in Finance/Accounting or related field is required.
  • Strong understanding of Accounting & Reporting proven by experience and/or education
  • CPA / ACCA and/or other professional certification in finance is an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in respective finance roles (Controllership, FP&A)
  • 3+ years of experience with Volvo Financial Services or another captive finance company welcomed
  • Experience managing people is preferred
  • Multi-national corporate work experience preferred
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Innovative problem solving and strong analytical and quantitative abilities
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals with minimum supervision
  • Proficient with MS Office, with advanced knowledge in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with reporting software packages such as Hyperion or SAP is desirable
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with experience in various business settings
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English; additional languages a plus
