Job Responsibilities

This routine describes responsibilities and authorities for Lead Geometry Assurance Engineer.

ï‚· Set requirements on geometries along with Product Design and Quality Impression with respect to customer requirements and manufacturability.
ï‚· Determine needs of tolerance calculations and carry out the tolerance calculations that concern several components or modules.
ï‚· Reconcile initial requirements, calculated requirements and results.
ï‚· Define datum targets and the size of tolerances in consultation with design engineer and manufacturing.
ï‚· Create the measuring strategy and the basic data for this.
ï‚· Lead the geometry assurance work within a specific area.
ï‚· Carry out measuring preparation and decide measurement methods and measurement tool based on the end requirements in consultation with manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for defining datum target system for delivery units or single parts that are important from a geometry assurance perspective.

• Be responsible for the tolerance requirement break down.

• Participate in packaging meeting.

• Participate in manufacturing preparation meeting.

• Be responsible for creation of measurement points and to document them on measurement point drawings and as measurement point’s definition.

• Call for GAE meetings in respectively area with cross-functional members as Lead Engineer, GM, Verification Leader, SQE and supplier.

• Create/compile geometry action plan in order to reach the final requirements in respectively area, which is reported to the project.

• Support the analysis work of the Master Builds with respect to the aesthetic final requirements.

Authorities

• Authority to take necessary measure in order to accomplish imposed responsibility.

• Authority to approve/reject deliveries through PROTUS and to communicate error discrepancies to concerned supplier.

• Authority to set the Datum Target system.

Experience – Education:

Masters or B.E/B.Tech degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

Work Experience:

• Worked 8-12 years in the automotive with geometry assurance in the areas of Car/Cab body and/or Exterior/Interior components and have very high experience in geometry assurance work.

• Have done projects from early phases to the industrialization phase

• Balanced esthetical and functional requirements through a project in a cross-functional organization

Knowledge

• Very good knowledge in the software RD&T or have the capability to learn new simulation software.

• Knowledge in Creo / Catia V5 or Equivalent related to Geometrical Assurance Usage

• Very good knowledge about manufacturing methods plastic and sheet metal

• Very good knowledge in measurement technology and fixturing of parts.

• Very good knowledge in geometrical tolerances

• Very good knowledge in datum and datum –systems for geometrical tolerances

• Good English skills, both written and spoken.
