The group Oil systems and Retarder is a group with 11 skilled engineers, within the Driveline department, Group Trucks Technology. The Swedish organization has worldwide product platform responsibility for Heavy-Duty Powertrains, electric and conventional, and of the installation in European Volvo products. We participate in all stages of the product cycle – from advanced engineering to industrial development and maintenance.

Our group is responsible for the oil system and retarder for our in-house designed transmission (both for electrical and conventional drivelines). We work closely with suppliers and design groups to design optimized oil and retarder systems.

At driveline you will be working at a department that in addition to hardware design also includes verification and workshop, NVH testing including noise chamber, and software design. We work together with both the vehicle assembly plants as well as our own gearbox factories. It gives a unique opportunity to work with all aspects of the world renowned I-shift gearbox and to be part of shaping our future.

Role description
As a Group manager Oil and retarder system, you will plan, lead the work for the design of the oil and retarder systems from cradle to grave. You will be involved in the design and analysis of new concepts and technologies.
You will be responsible and drive the method and tool development in your field and collaborate with suppliers.

  • Master of Science or equivalent
  • Good knowledge from design work, preferably within oil systems/retarder systems or similar
  • You are well experienced in operating in a global environment both in handling suppliers and well as working with our different sites, markets and brands.
  • Proven leadership skills or experience from leading design teams in the oil and/or transmission area
  • You enjoy balancing between strategic plans and short-term activities. You are comfortable in taking difficult decisions and standing up for the values of our company.
  • Finding solutions and always try to improve both yourself and the team is a part of your DNA.
  • Genuine interest in understanding how our products are used and how we should develop the systems to meet the legal, customer and society demands
