Compensation / Total Rewards Manager

The Compensation / Total Rewards Manager will support in the planning, development and implementation of new and revised Compensation and Pay programs, policies and procedures to align with the company's goals and competitive practices. This position is also responsible for ensuring that company total rewards programs are consistently and fairly administered in alignment with internal objectives and external government regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage the implementation and administration of total rewards programs.
  • Assist to ensure total rewards programs are cost effective, market competitive and consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Conduct ongoing research into market trends and best practices regarding total rewards programs.
  • Assist with implementation and deployment of new total rewards programs along with making recommendations for strategic total rewards plans.
  • Advises Human Resources Business Partners and business leaders on total rewards decisions and strategies.
  • Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
  • Support in the design, communication, and management of all elements of base pay, including pay structures (job families, job descriptions, job codes, grade ranges, and rates).
  • Conducts internal equity reviews, merit and market reviews, and adjustment methodology.
  • Direct studies and analyses for supporting departments or leadership, and engage resources as needed to inform the resolution of total rewards-related questions and issues.
  • Review the mix of total rewards programs offered to employees and assess their effectiveness; make recommendations to vary offerings based on current best practices.
  • Provide leadership and management of the total rewards operational team, providing direction regarding schedules, work assignments, and projects, as well as the coaching and development of employees; counsel team members when needed; and guide the preparation and delivery of performance reviews.
  • Lead, develop and mentor a high performing team that is results oriented and delivers exceptional customer service.
  • Assist to oversee the review, communication, and implementation of annual total rewards programs.
  • Develop effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal/state plans.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or other quantitative discipline required
  • Compensation certification from HRCI or SHRM preferred but not required
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience of leading a team
Competencies / Skills / Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Computer proficiency, technical aptitude and analytical acumen.
  • Ability to use problem-solving and critical thinking skills to resolve unforeseen situations in a calm, structured manner.
  • Ability to think strategically and deliver operationally within deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of the organization.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of quality, speed, and flexibility for change.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business or human resources.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ direct experience in total rewards.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs, company policies, and operations.
