We are looking for Senior Design Engineer for our Technology team to provide senior mechanical & hydraulic design capability to engineering activities/ projects assigned to the Technology Department.

You will have responsibility for specific projects and day to day process improvements. The job will require good cross functional collaboration. In your work you will embrace all three principles of the Volvo CE philosophy: Flow, Continuous Improvement and Perform & Develop. The role scope will cover design capability, industry processes, design reviews, engineering change notices, technical liaison and engaging with others to ensure high quality product design for procurement, cost, manufacture and maintenance whilst adhering to safety and other standards.

To be successful in this role, we believe:
  • You have passion for safety and quality
  • You have BSc/BEng Degree in Engineering or other relevant technical qualification
  • You are a Chartered Engineer with a Postgraduate degree
  • You can have at least 4 years work experience in heavy engineering design in a similar manufacturing environment
  • You can demonstrate a technical competence in hydraulic and mechanical systems with off-highway products
  • You have a hands-on approach to engineering design and problem solving
  • You have an understanding of mobile electrical systems
  • You are proficient with 3D CAD modelling using current CAD software
  • You are capable of managing a small team of engineers
  • You are able to evidence commitment and practice of continuous improvement activities
  • You are a collaborative team player and also capable of constructively challenging other colleagues
  • You have competent IT Skills including Microsoft Office
  • You have good communication skills in verbal, written and presentation format
  • You are fluent in English
